The New Avenue

My past shopping experiences at the Avenue weren't all that great because some of the clothes seemed to be for older women. However, time has definitely been good for this plus sized retailer. Now you can walk into an Avenue store or log onto their site and find fabulous and funky items (they even have trendy tights now). Check out some of the items that I've chosen as "haute" looks for the fall season. What do you think?

Curvy Toccara

Toccara Jones has lost so much weight that some say she has crossed over to the other side, the skinny girl side. If you ask me, I think she looks great and her curves are just well proportioned now. There is nothing wrong with losing a little weight and toning up our curves. Get this great look that Toccara sported at a recent editorial photo shoot where she still represented for the curvy girls.

Curvy Girls Closet Clutter

I woke up this morning and had an epiphany. Last night I went shopping (yes again) and when I got home I realized that I bought an item that I had already purchased a few months ago. Now I know I'm addicted to shopping but this is ridiculous. I have realized that it's time for me to get my closet in order. I need a new system where I can see all the items I have in my closet (this also includes shoes).

I found some great organization tips from www.myhomeideas.com. Here are a few I ideas that I am going to try:

Clear it Out
Distinguish clothing and shoes that you wear and items that you need to get rid of. You can do this by the golden rule of closet organizing: If you haven’t worn it in a year, toss it.

Also, if it doesn’t fit you well, it is time to get rid of it. Instead of hanging on to your “skinny jeans” until you lose a few pounds, donate them. Then, when you get down to your goal weight, treat yourself to a new, stylish pair of jeans.

Good Tip: If you are on the fence about an item, “flag” the hanger. As you wear each item, remove the flag. At the end of each season, items that are still marked with a flag should be donated. If the item is in good condition and/or if you paid a lot for it, think about selling it at a local consignment store or online at a site such as eBay.

If the Shoe Fits
If you are keeping your shoeboxes, label what is inside. We like the Post-it Durable Tabs because they offer a writable surface and are quick and easy to apply. Alternatively, invest in clear shoeboxes with drawer-front pulls; they allow you to see what’s inside so you can easily access your shoes.

Post pictures of your organized or unorganized closet and I will definitely post before and after pictures of mine. Happy organizing....

Curvy Costumes

Boo morning fashionistas. With Halloween only two days away, I've decided to write about costumes. Fashion and costumes can SOMETIMES go hand and hand. When we look at a magazine or in the window of our favorite retail shop we see looks that are put together almost like a costume. This Halloween I want to merge fashion and costumes into one and put a sexy spin on it.

There are so many curvy woman who are afraid to reveal their curves and this is ludicrous. The curve of a woman's body is one of the things that men love most about women and we shouldn't be afraid to flaunt our curves especially in front of our man. How many of you have ever dressed up in a costume for your man? Well, I have and he and I both love it. I've been everything from a Police Officer to a Catholic School Girl and I am telling you that this is something that every woman should try. Now don't get me wrong, the first time I did it I laughed a lot because I hadn't found my comfort zone in being a different woman. After trying a few different costumes I became a pro and now I know how to let my "Sasha Fierce" out and she feels amazing. If you've never done this then use this Halloween as an excuse to start and release the "Sasha Fierce" in you. Here are a few places where I've purchased costumes that are guaranteed to make this Halloween memorable for you and your man!

Fully Intamite (my favorite), Torrid, Yandy.

Happy Halloween

Black Carpet Fashion Show

Good morning loves. I've taken a small break from the blog but now it's back to fashion. This past friday Muah Collection was a featured vendor at The Black Carpet Runway Fashion Show at the Michelle Ballroom here in Chicago. The designs were amazing and the entertainment was great as well. The show was hosted by Chicago's own WGCI radio host Demi Lobo. She was also one of the performers in the show and she rocked the house with three hot songs including her new single 'You should take my picture'. Demi was smitten by a black leather studded satchel that Muah Collection showcased at the show. The bag found a home with her that night! Stay tuned for more fashion shows and trunk shows from Muah Collection.

Bangin' Bracelet for a Basketball Wife

What's up curvy girls? Yay, today is Follow Fashion Friday! Celebrities seem to always stay fly day in and day out. We can pick up a magazine or flip the channel on the TV and there they are posing for the camera looking fabulous...So why can't we look as fab as the celebs? Is it because our bank accounts have less figures than theirs? The answer is no. A true follower of fashion knows that in order to create a Hollywood look you have to do some leg work like searching the Internet, window shopping, comparing deals, and even thrifting to complete the look without breaking the bank.

Today we're following Jennifer Williams from BET's 'Basketball Wives'. Jennifer is married to former NBA player Eric Williams, a principal owner of Flirty Girl Fitness, and co-founder of the Project Save the World Foundation. Check out the look that Jennifer Williams put together for the 'Basketball Wives Reunion'. The gold bracelet she's wearing is bangin' and probably costs an arm and a leg at a Miami boutique. Guess what ladies? Muah Collection has this same bracelet in gold and silver for only $20. What a deal? I've done some of the "leg work" for you and your celeb look is almost complete now it's time for you to do the rest. Have fun...
